Neural Amp Modeler, an open-source audio plugin created by Steven Atkinson in 2019 and released as a VST/AU in early 2022, now counts nearly 25,000 community members and over 6,500 amp profiles on Tone3000 as of March 9, 2026. The neural-network–based tool delivers high-fidelity amp emulations often judged superior to commercial alternatives, and supports hardware integrations plus user-created profiles for touring and studio use.
