South Korea, Singapore Launch FTA Upgrade Negotiations

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong agreed on March 2, 2026 in Singapore to launch formal negotiations to upgrade their 2006 free trade agreement and to deepen cooperation in artificial intelligence. They signed five MOUs covering AI cooperation (public safety, intellectual property), small modular reactors, quantum and investment, aiming to bolster economic security and joint industrial AI development.
