Waymo Fails To Stop For School Buses

In December the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation after Austin ISD reported 19 Waymo robotaxi incidents failing to fully stop for school buses; Austin now reports at least 24 violations since the 2025 school year. Waymo issued a voluntary software recall and updates, yet violations continued and a vehicle struck a child in Santa Monica on January 23, prompting multiple federal probes.
