Spreadsheets Become Primary Enterprise AI Interface

Microsoft, Google and Anthropic are embedding large-language models into Excel and Google Sheets in late 2025 and March 2026, adding agentic workflows and cross-app context to spreadsheets. Microsoft’s Agent Mode runs multi-step agents; Google reported Gemini in Sheets reached a 70.48% success rate on the Spreadsheet Bench, and Anthropic and startups like Shortcut show high benchmark performance. This integration lowers skills, budget and integration barriers to enterprise AI adoption.
