SpaceX Seeks FCC Approval For Million-Satellite Data Centers

SpaceX filed with the FCC on Jan. 30 seeking approval for an orbital data-center constellation of up to one million satellites in low Earth orbit, operating between 500 and 2,000 kilometers. The proposal emphasizes near-constant solar power, intersatellite optical links with Starlink relays, and requests waivers of FCC deployment milestones while providing few technical, schedule, or cost details. SpaceX says the system would support large-scale AI compute and leverage Starship launches.
