Snowflake Launches PostgreSQL Service In AI Cloud

Snowflake is launching a PostgreSQL database-as-a-service that runs natively in its AI Data Cloud, placing transactional workloads alongside analytics and AI under a single governance perimeter and enabling existing apps to move without code changes. The service uses open-source pg_lake extensions to read and write Apache Iceberg tables directly, aiming to eliminate ETL and support real-time, agentic AI workflows.
