San José Airport Deploys AI Robot José
San José Mineta International Airport on Tuesday launched a four-month pilot testing José, a humanoid robot developed by Silicon Valley startup IntBot, to greet passengers, answer questions, provide real-time updates and autonomously navigate Terminal B. Airport officials said the trial will evaluate multimodal AI combining vision, audio and language as a way to ease strain from staffing shortages and travel delays amid a partial government shutdown.
Scoring Rationale
Pilot deployment provides credible, timely applied-robotics insight, but its single-airport scope limits broad novelty and immediate impact.
