Nomogram Predicts Depression Risk in Chinese Adults

Researchers analyzed wave 5 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study data collected July–August 2020 on 1,504 adults aged ≥45 with hypertension and type 2 diabetes to develop a 9-item nomogram predicting probable depression (CESD-10>10; 635/1504, 42.2%). The model achieved strong discrimination (training AUC=0.819; testing AUC=0.825) and rapid risk stratification (<3 minutes), highlighting functional and social factors as primary intervention targets.
Scoring Rationale
Robust, clinically actionable model with strong internal validation; limited generalizability beyond Chinese CHARLS cohort without external prospective validation.
