Meta Files Patent For AI Simulating Users

Meta filed and received approval in December for a patent describing an LLM-based system that can simulate absent or deceased Facebook users, posting and responding in their voice. Meta told Business Insider it has no current plans to launch the feature. The filing raises ethical, privacy and grief-related concerns and prompts calls for clearer account memorialization and consent policies on social platforms.
