Macron Calls For Safe AI Oversight

French President Emmanuel Macron told the global AI Impact Summit in New Delhi on Thursday he was determined to ensure safe oversight of fast-evolving AI, saying Europe will shape rules with allies such as India and citing the EU's Artificial Intelligence Act adopted in 2024. He said France is doubling its AI scientists and engineers, expects startups to create "dozens of thousands" of jobs, and emphasized children's protection including a pending under-15s social media ban.
