On March 19, People Power Party lawmaker and Busan mayoral candidate Joo Jin-woo pledged ahead of the June 3 local elections to transform Busan into a maritime hub by integrating it with Ulsan and South Gyeongsang and developing the Arctic shipping route. He proposed Nakdong River redevelopment, attracting shipping and AI data centers, and said integration could unlock about 20 trillion won to reverse youth outmigration.
