India Drives Global Open-Source Developer Ecosystem

OpenUK CEO Amanda Brock told PTI Videos on Feb. 17 that India now powers the global open-source base underpinning AI and digital services, citing GitHub’s Octoverse 2025 report showing over 21.9 million Indian developers and more than 5 million new joiners in 2025. She warns India still lags in producing globally dominant projects and urges institutional support and targeted regulation.
