Income Tax Act 2025 Replaces 1961 Law

Supreme Court Justice R Mahadevan said in Kolkata on Saturday that the Income Tax Act 2025, which will take effect April 1, aims to simplify compliance, modernize India's tax structure and align with global best practices, introducing measures such as e-assessment, digital-economy taxation and general anti-avoidance rules. At the Income Tax Bar Association seminar, Justice CV Bhadang warned against overdependence on AI in advocacy, and tribunal officials noted an imminent office move.
