Hollywood Confronts ByteDance Over Seedance Deepfakes

Last week a Seedance 2.0–generated clip of Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise went viral on X, drawing about 1.7 million views and sparking industry alarm. Within days the Motion Picture Association, SAG-AFTRA and studios including Disney and Paramount condemned the tool—with Disney issuing a cease-and-desist—while ByteDance said Monday it would strengthen safeguards; studios see leverage for upcoming labor negotiations.
