Google Research Predicts Insulin Resistance From Wearables

Scientists from Google Research published a Nature study on March 19, 2026, predicting insulin resistance for 1,165 participants using smartwatch data combined with demographics and routine blood biomarkers. The study found fasting glucose alone is insufficient and developed an 'IR agent' LLM to generate holistic metabolic-health insights and personalized recommendations. Authors say the framework could scale to millions for earlier intervention.
