GitHub Removes Premium Models From Student Plan
Microsoft-owned GitHub said on Wednesday that it will remove access to several premium models, including GPT-5.4 and Anthropic's Opus and Sonnet, from the free GitHub Copilot Student plan effective Thursday, March 12. The company says the change is to make student access sustainable while retaining other models such as Claude 4.5 Haiku, Gemini 3.1 Pro, and GPT-5.3 Codex; students can upgrade to paid Pro or Pro+ plans.
