DoT Returns 8.5 Lakh Stolen Handsets
India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) said on February 12, 2026 that it has tracked and returned 8.5 lakh stolen mobile handsets to owners via the CEIR service on the Sanchar Saathi portal. Officials reported the Financial Risk Indicator prevented about ₹1,400 crore in cyber fraud since May 2025, while the Digital Intelligence Platform analyses 122 crore customer records using AI and facial recognition.
Scoring Rationale
