Cognition Secures Billion-Dollar Valuation With Devin

Palo Alto–based startup Cognition, founded in 2022 by Roshun Patel, Ndeye Thiam and Sachin Sudarsanam, raised a $200 million Series A led by Lightspeed in September 2023, valuing the company above $2 billion after earlier seed and Kickstarter funding. Its flagship coding assistant Devin, built with a Corrected Probabilistic Approach and integrations like GitHub and VS Code, serves 100+ enterprise customers and aims to reduce hallucinations while expanding into multimodal and domain workflows.
