China Reports AI Industry Surpasses 1.2 Trillion Yuan

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology head Li Lecheng said on Thursday that the output of China's core artificial intelligence industry exceeded 1.2 trillion yuan ($165 billion) in 2025, with more than 6,200 companies operating in the field. Li added that Chinese open-source AI models led global download counts, over 30% of large manufacturers adopted AI by end-2025, and firms released more than 300 humanoid robot models.
