Canada Strengthens AI Partnership With Germany

Canada and Germany on February 14, 2026 signed a joint declaration of intent on artificial intelligence at the Munich Security Conference, with ministers Evan Solomon and Karsten Wildberger formalizing the agreement. The declaration builds on the December Canada–Germany Digital Alliance and launches a Sovereign Technology Alliance, committing both countries to expand secure compute, accelerate AI research and commercialization, and strengthen talent development to reduce strategic technology dependencies.
