Canada Solicits Firms To Build AI Data Centres

Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada opened a call on Jan. 15 for proposals from Canadian companies and consortia to build sovereign, large-scale AI data centres exceeding 100 megawatts, with submissions due Feb. 15. The government said it will prioritize projects with Canadian majority control, Indigenous participation, minimized environmental impacts, and energy planning, and will sign memoranda of understanding with selected proponents.
