Canada and Germany Launch Sovereign AI Alliance

OTTAWA — On Feb. 14, 2026, Canada and Germany signed a joint declaration of intent to cooperate on growing artificial intelligence and launched a Sovereign Technology Alliance. The agreement directs both governments to expand AI research, address critical skills gaps, and deliver joint capabilities that aim to generate economic benefits. Ministers Evan Solomon and Karsten Wildberger emphasized responsible development and national-security implications.
