Amazon Cuts Jobs, Deepens Seattle Area Losses

Amazon announced on Jan. 28 that it will cut 16,000 jobs globally, including about 1,400 in Seattle and 700 in Bellevue, Bloomberg reported Jan. 30. A Puget Sound Regional Council report said nearly 13,000 jobs were lost across four nearby counties in 2025, with construction and service-sector roles hit hardest; combined tech layoffs from Amazon, Expedia and Meta are deepening regional labor declines.
