Wisconsin PSC Considers Data-Center Electricity Tariff

At a public hearing Tuesday, the Wisconsin Public Service Commission considered a Wisconsin Electric Power Company proposal to create a tariff for "very large" data centers defined by a 500-megawatt threshold. Testimony included residents, lawmakers, and unions, with critics warning that ratepayers could cover roughly 25% of infrastructure costs and that the rule could spur fossil-fuel plants over renewables. The PSC plans a decision by May 1.
