UPS Eliminates 48,000 Jobs Through Restructuring

United Parcel Service eliminated roughly 48,000 jobs in 2025 under its “Network Reconfiguration and Efficiency Reimagined” program, about 10% of its 490,000-person workforce, and signaled another 20,000 cuts in 2026. The company closed daily operations at 93 facilities through September 2025, is reducing Amazon volume by over 50% with a targeted $3.5 billion in annual cost savings, and is automating roughly 400 centers. UPS says the shift aims to improve profitability and reengineer its network.
