Universities Adopt AI Reshaping Academic Labor And Learning

Universities are rapidly adopting AI across admissions, advising, tutoring, research, and administration, the Applied Ethics Center at UMass Boston and the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies report after eight years of study. Their recent white paper warns that nonautonomous, hybrid, and emerging agentic systems heighten risks—bias, opacity, privacy loss, and erosion of mentorship—potentially reshaping academic labor and learning.
