Tamil Nadu Reports Surge In Medical Tourism

Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma. Subramanian said at the Periyar College of Pharmaceutical Sciences convocation on January 31, 2026, that the state attracts medical tourists from 70 countries, with approximately 15 lakh patients from abroad seeking treatment annually. He cited the U.N. Interagency Task Force Award for the Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam scheme and noted over 38,000 medical graduates placed in the past five years; 125 students received degrees.
