SpaceX Pursues Orbital AI Data Centers

Reuters reports a proposed merger between SpaceX and xAI could accelerate Elon Musk's plan to deploy solar-powered AI data centers in orbit, aiming to cut power and cooling costs. Deutsche Bank projects small-scale orbital tests in 2027–28 with larger constellations in the 2030s; competitors including Nvidia-backed Starcloud, Google's Project Suncatcher, Blue Origin and Chinese state projects are pursuing similar efforts.
