OpenAI Develops Smart Speaker With Camera

OpenAI plans a smart speaker with a camera as its first hardware product, The Information reports, likely priced between $200 and $300 and not expected before March 2027. The device reportedly detects nearby objects and conversations and uses Face ID–style facial recognition for purchases; OpenAI is also reportedly exploring smart glasses and a smart lamp after acquiring Jony Ive’s hardware firm for nearly $6.5 billion in May.
