Nolan Leads Directors Guild Addressing Industry Job Decline

In September Christopher Nolan was elected president of the 19,500-member Directors Guild of America and on Jan. 29 outlined priorities including reversing a 35% drop in television employment and an 8–12% film downturn in 2024. He is lobbying for a stackable 25% federal production tax rebate, preparing 2026 contract negotiations, and pushing for generative-AI licensing protections and health-plan funding commitments.
