Lawmakers Advance DEFIANCE Act Protecting Victims

Paris Hilton joined Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Capitol Hill Thursday to support the bipartisan DEFIANCE Act, which would allow victims of deepfake pornography to sue creators and distributors. The bill, co-sponsored by Rep. Laura Lee and building on last year’s TAKE IT DOWN Act, passed the Senate on January 13 and aims to pair removal obligations with legal recourse.
