Karnataka Commission Recommends Free Bicycle Programme

The Karnataka State Policy and Planning Commission, led by Deputy Chairman B.R. Patil, submitted a 210-page report on February 19, 2026 recommending the state resume the free bicycle distribution programme for girl students and stop hiring guest teachers by filling sanctioned vacancies. The panel also urged extending the Right to Education to ages 4–16, creating AI and curriculum task forces, and including proposals in the 2026–27 budget.
