India Urges Platforms To Comply With Laws

India's information minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Tuesday at the India AI Impact Summit that big tech platforms such as Google’s YouTube, Meta, X and Netflix must operate within the country's constitutional framework. The comments follow last week's tightening of content-takedown rules requiring removal of unlawful posts within three hours, and Vaishnaw called for stronger regulation of deepfakes, prompting compliance pressure on global platforms.
