India Upskills IT Workforce For AI Transition

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on February 19, 2026 at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi that the government is working with industry and academia to upskill and reskill India's IT workforce for artificial intelligence. He noted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policy shift to encourage global data residency in India, said 118 countries are participating, and highlighted clean-energy and nuclear reforms supporting AI infrastructure.
