India Crafts Sovereign AI Shared Infrastructure

India's electronics and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday outlined a vision to offer a 'bouquet' of trusted, royalty-free AI solutions modeled on the UPI payments system and framed as global public goods. He said the techno-legal approach will balance innovation with accountability, and announced plans to add 20,000 GPUs to a common compute facility over six months to support startups and researchers.
