Hyundai CEO Accelerates U.S. Manufacturing Expansion

Hyundai CEO José Muñoz is accelerating a $26 billion U.S. manufacturing expansion announced in 2025 to localize production and shield the automaker from tariff volatility. Despite a 22% net income decline in 2025, Hyundai posted record revenue and sold over four million vehicles globally, including about one million in the U.S.; Muñoz aims for 80% U.S.-sold Hyundais to be American-made by 2030. The plan includes the Georgia "Metaplant" integrating Atlas humanoid robots by 2028.
