Game Industry Reports Significant Layoffs And Union Support

The Game Developers Conference organizers released a 2026 State of the Game Industry survey of more than 2,300 professionals, finding 33% of U.S. respondents were laid off in the past two years (28% globally) and 82% of U.S. respondents support unionization. The report also details generative AI adoption, business pressures, and precedes the GDC Festival of Gaming March 9–13 in San Francisco.
