China Strengthens Hungary Strategic Partnership and Expands Economic Cooperation

On 12 February 2026 in Budapest, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged closer collaboration with Hungary after talks with Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, calling for stronger political trust, expanded economic ties and greater cooperation in global governance. He highlighted aligning the Belt and Road Initiative with Hungary's 'Opening to the East' strategy, progress on the Hungary–Serbia railway, rising Chinese investment and opportunities in AI, digital economy, renewables and advanced manufacturing.
