App Stores Host AI Nudify Apps Generating Nonconsensual Nudes

An industry watchdog, the Tech Transparency Project, found in a January review that Google Play hosted 55 'nudify' apps and Apple's App Store hosted 47, which use AI to generate non-consensual nude images. After TTP and CNBC contacted the companies, Apple removed 28 apps and Google suspended several pending investigation; the apps reportedly total over 700 million downloads and $117 million in revenue, raising enforcement and safety concerns.
