AI-Generated Images Link Politicians to Epstein

Disinformation watchdog NewsGuard said on Feb. 4, 2026 that social media users circulated AI-generated or manipulated images falsely linking U.S. politicians, including New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani and former presidential candidate Nikki Haley, to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Seven such images garnered more than 21 million views on X, and Google’s Gemini detected SynthID watermarks on several fakes. The findings follow the Justice Department's release last week of over three million Epstein files.
